Privacy policy

How we collect, use, store and disclose personal information, and what you can do about it.

Review before you publish

This is a working draft covering the standard ground for an Australian finance broker. It is not legal advice. Have it reviewed against your actual practices, entity structure and lender arrangements before the site goes live.

Who this covers

Business House Credit, referred to as "we" or "us". We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

How we collect it

Directly from you, through our enquiry form, by email, by phone, and in documents you send us. We also collect publicly available business information from the Australian Business Register when you search for your business on our enquiry form. We may receive information about you from your accountant, bookkeeper or another referrer where they introduce you to us.

Why we collect it

To assess your funding requirements, prepare and submit applications to lenders, respond to your enquiry, meet lender and legal requirements, and maintain our records. We cannot arrange finance without this information.

Who we disclose it to

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not disclose it for marketing by anyone else.

Overseas disclosure

Some of our technology providers store or process data outside Australia. Where that is the case we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles. [ List the countries once your provider set is final. ]

How we hold it

Electronically, in access-controlled systems, with data held in Australia where we can. Access is limited to people who need it to do their job. We take reasonable steps to protect information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access.

How long we keep it

We keep records of settled transactions for seven years from settlement, in line with our record-keeping obligations. Where an application does not proceed, we destroy or de-identify the information within twenty-four months. Identity documents are destroyed once verification is complete and recorded.

Marketing

We will contact you about your enquiry regardless. We will only send you general marketing communications if you have opted in, and every one of those contains an unsubscribe link.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable period, and if we refuse we will tell you why in writing.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first at applications@businesshousecredit.com.au and we will investigate. If you are not satisfied with our response you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
